leafcutter john - the forest and the sea
||| DELETED BY LEAFCUTTER JOHN REQUEST |||
.:: The forest and the sea tells the story of two people who become lost in a forest. As they try to find a way out, the sky darkens. By nightfall, they have strayed so deep that they have no choice but to spend the night with the forest and its inhabitants. When the morning finally comes our couple wake on a cliff top between the forest and the sea, and rather than go back through the forest they decide to take to the sea.
The Forest and The Sea is John's 4th full length album but his first release for Berlin based label Staubgold. It tells a true story of what becomes of two people lost in the forest. The compositions feature a dynamic hybrid of electronic and acoustic songs bound together by a meticulous narrative enriched by haunting vocals, acoustic guitar, and traditional Greek instrumentation.
Field recordings were made in various locations in Greece, Sweden and the UK and are interwoven throughout the work. This album demonstrates John's consolidated approach towards songwriting, field recordings and processed electronics. A significant development from John’s earlier works, he manages to produce seamless and more importantly meaningful transitions between electronic and folk music.

Hello, I made this record!
It's strange to see that it has been put up here for free. I don't mind people sharing music they like with their friends, i do it too. But this is something else. It took me a long time to make this record and i put a lot of love, time and effort into it. Before you go ahead and download it you should know that Staubgold the record label that released this in 2006 has sold about 2000 copies of it and that means it's just about paid for the cost of manufacturing, and releasing it but no one else (musicians, label, etc) has made any money out of it at all. I'm sure it's the same story for many artists on sites like these.
I'm not saying don't download but i think it's good that you know that if no one actually supports artists financially there will come a time when they can no longer afford to make music.
Take care,
John x.
hey john !!!
first of all, thanx for your message. it is such an honour you've mailed me…
second of all, i just want to say that i could delete this post if you want me too, my intention posting these albums is to divulge them and being kind of a promoter of independent or underground artist /musicians who personally, i find interesting to listen and follow.
i respect your work, i love your music, i even dowloaded and use forester… as a matter fact in few days i was going to (i'm going to) send you some recordings which forester is involved.
it's be grrrrrreat to me to get in touch with you and most of all, i'd prefer to start a nice friendship rather than a awkward situation.
as i said before, i respect your work and believe me, i know what a hard work is required to make a record, i'm a musician too.
good luck
keep in touch
